New Transitional Respite Housing

Prestige Community Resources Opens New Transitional Respite Housing in NE DC

Prestige Community Resources, in partnership with Prestige Healthcare Resources, celebrated the grand opening of its new Transitional Respite Housing Center, House of Job, on Friday, March 26.

House of Job is a 9-unit short-term recovery residential facility for 27 men at 520 Eastern Avenue, NE that allows individuals experiencing behavioral health issues such as addiction the opportunity to rest in a safe environment while accessing mental health services. PCR’s 4-unit women’s facility, Elizabeth’s Place, also opens this month with space for 10 women.

“After a year that added tremendous additional struggles to people already facing mental health challenges in our Ward 7 and 8 communities, we are proud to fill a gap in existing services by providing critical transitional respite care to those on the road to recovery,” said PCR President Will Bonette to the gathered community leaders and residents.

After a hospital or rehab stay, respite care in transitional housing can be a helpful stepping-stone to living independently. For individuals not quite ready to return to the community, PCR’s Transitional Respite Housing and our specialty-trained staff provide:

  • Compassionate, holistic care
  • Personalized case management
  • Personal and group therapy
  • All inclusive rent and amenities
  • Fully furnished rooms
  • 45-day stay option

PCR is the nonprofit arm of Prestige Healthcare Resources. Its mission is to empower holistic wellness in persons with mental illness through respite care, supportive care, advocacy, and recovery-focused skill development. PCR also distributes supplemental groceries to more than 300 families each week at it’s headquarters on Good Hope Road, SE, as well as Narcom, masks, condoms and free cell phones as part of its harm reduction programs.
